A team of eight Lower Sixth students recently met with the Harpur Trust's Communications Manager, Helen Hutchinson, and BGS Director of Digital Learning, Enterprise and Sustainability, Mrs Hudson-Findley, to begin work on a new project to share news and views within the school community.
BGS English teacher Mrs Everitt, who is overseeing the project, said: “It is an exciting initiative. It is important for students to develop digital media and editorial skills, and to practise using these in a meaningful way. We have many talented students at the school who might also like to submit pieces they have written, such as articles, creative writing, book reviews – maybe even recipes and puzzles.”
The team hopes to invite student contributions soon. Mitali Misra, one of the editors, commented: “It will be great to have a regular student publication, allowing the voices of BGS pupils to be heard in a journal. I am particularly looking forward to having the chance to use my writing skills, since I enjoyed GCSE English but take science subjects at A Level.”
Amelia Hudson added: “I am excited to learn what students want to hear more about, and I am looking forward to publishing our first issue.”
