Where to spend some of the hottest days of the year? Sheringham is a pretty good spot! 

Sunday morning saw the departure of Year 10 geographers as they headed to Sheringham in North Norfolk. The purpose was to undertake two days of mandatory fieldwork to enable the girls to be able to answer the Geographical Applications paper in the new GCSE that the girls will sit in 2018.

On arrival we went straight to the beach and found some shade to have our first classroom session of the day. Once briefed, girls went off in groups to assess the environmental quality of 27 different sites within the central area of Sheringham. This covered a variety of indicators from traffic to graffiti and congestion to greenery.

On Monday the girls investigated the impact of longshore drift, which has resulted in a need for effective management techniques. An evening walk saw all girls walk to the top of Beeston hill.

After 13 years of fieldtrips to the Sheringham area, Mrs Rogers is moving on to a new school and we used this opportunity to present her with an appropriate gift and our very best wishes for the future. She will be much missed by girls and colleagues alike, not just for her academic prowess but for her intense sense of fun and caring regard for the girls.

The girls worked very hard in the heat-wave and achieved a great deal in a short space of time.
