Bedford Girls' School has announced its best ever Upper Sixth examination results with over 50% of all entries (A Level and International Baccalaureate Diploma combined) achieving A/A* grade.
One in five girls achieved straight A/A* grades, whilst over half of the cohort obtained a grade B or above across all of their subjects. 93% of the students gained places at their first or second choice universities.
Amongst the many fabulous achievements Melissa Nash achieved 4 A* grades, securing her place at Cambridge to read Engineering and Emily Carter (A*A*A) will study Philosophy at Durham University. We are also delighted that two sets of twins Charlotte and Chelsea Spanoudakis received A*AA, they will study French and Spanish at the University of York and Chemistry at the University of Bristol respectively. Twin sisters Emily (A*A*AA) and Leila (A*AAB) Duchenne will go on to study Geography at the University of Bristol and Economics and Mathematics at the University of Edinburgh respectively.
Miss Jo MacKenzie, Headmistress of Bedford Girls' School commented: "These are extremely strong results achieved against a backdrop of extensive changes to the A Level specification, our students deserve to be very proud of all of their achievements. I would like to thank our teachers for navigating the girls through the changes, ensuring each student was given the support and expertise she required.
"Our girls leave BGS not only with academic success but as confident, resilient young women who have the skills to grasp the opportunities and challenges which lay ahead of them."
