Remember to keep entering and sending in your amazing efforts to Mrs Axford (Assistant Head), or post them on your social media channels and tag #BGSCommunity. There are plenty of House Points up for grabs in competitions including the final week of daily Mathematics challenges on @BGS_Maths and the final week of the Bake Off. The Bake Off competition this week is afternoon tea and can be entered on Google Classroom using the following code: s5thbsg.

This week the ‘Do something Active this Weekend Photo Competition’ provided some lovely examples from staff and students of the different types of exercise that they are taking part in. View the photos here. The results were as follows:

Austen and Nightingale in equal 2nd with 62 entries

Chanel in 4th place with 40 entries

Parks in 5th place with 29 entries

Franklin in 6th place with 17 entries

There were some very creative entries in the 3-D Craft Competition with the theme of the ‘Ocean’ (a competition initiated by Polly Taylor and Martha Ibbott in Year 8) using only materials you could find in your House. Congratulations to everyone who took part. There were lots of very creative entries, which gave our guest judge Mrs McPhail (Geography teacher) a challenging but enjoyable task this week to award the final placings. View the entries here. The results were as follows:

1st Ella Turner (Lower Sixth) Hepburn with her Whale.

2nd Sabira Egan (Lower Sixth) Franklin with her beautiful Fish.

3rd Lara Aellen (Year 8) Nightingale with her Coral Reef.

Highly commended Kate Woodward (Year 7) Nightingale with her Ocean Scene.

The Maths Twitter Origami Challenge produced some beautiful butterflies and some other very good attempts which got somewhere close to resembling a butterfly! View the creative entries here.
