This week’s Reading Breakfast was all about inspiring women.
Our Year 3 girls and their parents explored the stories of remarkable change-makers. The session began with a short video clip of Malala Yousafzai, after which we reflected on what made her significant and the values she held.
Afterwards, the girls and their parents worked together to read, reflect and discuss how other significant women, such as Hannah Szenes, a Jewish poet turned spy, Anne Frank and Beatrix Potter, shaped the world we live in today. The activity encouraged pupils to ask thought-provoking questions, deepening their understanding of how one person’s actions can create lasting change.
To conclude, pupils engaged in a creative reflection, designing a “badge of honour” that symbolised the legacy of their chosen change-maker. The morning provided a valuable opportunity for them to develop their reading, research and critical thinking skills while celebrating those who have made a difference in history.
We look forward to the next Reading Breakfast as we continue to inspire our young learners.
