Mr Farrell (DofE Award Manager)
Over the past few weeks, students from Years 9 and 10 have braved wind, rain and hail to complete their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Bronze expedition. Following a number of different routes around the villages of North Bedfordshire, 102 students completed a two-day expedition.
As part of their expedition, students worked in a small team and successfully navigated the routes and cooked a hot meal on a camping stove. Everyone worked hard in very difficult weather and extremely muddy conditions. We did have a couple of groups who got a bit lost, but their training helped them recognise where they had gone wrong and they were able to correct themselves.
Huge thank you to all the staff who supported the two expedition weekends. To put in perspective the combined distance walked was 3,200km which is further than Bedford to Moscow!
