Drama and Dance

Mrs Winter (Head of Dance)

BGS has been filled with dance fever this week as girls who have chosen dance as an extra-curricular activity presented four performances to very appreciative audiences.

Impressions Dance Show was born from an idea that dance has the potential to unlock creativity and imagination from a variety of stimuli. Consequently, artwork became the inspirational catalyst, initiating a range of choreographic work. This whole experience has allowed girls to demonstrate their potential in a range of styles, accompanied by an eclectic mix of sound and music.

Both Senior and Junior School girls excelled themselves on stage, dressed in exquisite costumes that illuminated the performance space and connected to the chosen artwork. Masterpieces by artists such as Kandinsky, Munch, Picasso, Banksy and many others were the backdrop to each dance and the girls highlighted the thematic content, abstract shapes, colour and design of the projections.

Performances were thought-provoking and captured the hearts of our guests. The explosion of colour, energy and talent created wonderful memories for the audience to take away with them.

Putting on a show such as Impressions creates opportunities for girls to excel, develop in confidence, face challenges and of course interact with girls from other year groups. The dancers learn from their successes, which in turn encourages them to repeat the process, realising that both the emotional and physical journey is so worthwhile.
