We are extremely proud to announce that Arhana Yuvaraj (Year 8) has received a special Youth Commendation Award by the Mayor of Milton Keynes, for her fundraising and volunteering efforts over the past year.

The Mayor’s Award celebrates the citizenship and democracy work, which is being done by children and young people across MK.

Arhana has done an incredible amount over the past year including organising a cake sale in support of the New Cancer Centre at MK University Hospital. Arhana with three other friends raised just over £260 from the sale. She then helped to run the MKMedics Summer Fair for all the doctors and their families in MK, helping to run a stall selling t-shirts and organising games for the children. The event raised £22,000 for the cancer centre.

Later in the year, she volunteered at Waitrose in Oakgrove for bag packing, which raised almost £1000 for the Paediatric Department at MK University Hospital.

Arhana is continuing many volunteering initiatives including littler picking in her local area and baking delicious cakes for MK University Hospital.

An incredible role model, the #BGSCommunity are very proud of your achievements.

The Mayor of MK talks about Arhana’s achievements at 3 minutes and 40 seconds here.
