It’s been a busy few weeks for inspirational student, Hilda Makamba (Lower Sixth), who has been volunteering for the Queens Park Community Orchard, delivering food parcels to the local community.

Hilda said: “One thing that had always concerned me since the beginning of lockdown was the panic buying and stockpiling craze, and how these items were not reaching vulnerable people in our local communities. When I heard about Queens Park Community Orchard and their food parcel deliveries, I knew I had to get involved!

“We packaged food for university students, families and those who found it difficult to get access to groceries and delivered their parcels to them. It was a really good experience and made me realise that the 'vulnerable' during this time aren't just the ones who are most susceptible to Covid-19.”
