Amy Lammin (Lower Sixth)
Last weekend five girls from the Lower Sixth travelled to the Peak District for their gold DofE practice expedition.
The weekend was challenging at times, but an enjoyable experience overall. In total, we cycled over 100km, which has put us in good stead for our real expedition, a coast-to-coast ride in August. We have learnt a lot about bike maintenance, cookery and map reading. Luckily, we had good weather and no punctures - compared to the practice day when we got six! We are now looking forward to setting out again for the assessed.
A big thank you to Mr Ellis, Mr Bowden, Mr Castro and Mrs Morgan for organising the trip and providing much needed motivation.
