By Miss Sadler (DofE Bronze Coordinator)
On Friday 7th June, our Bronze cohort got ready for their training expedition. The afternoon started with a walk to Cople from school, where students then set up their tents and later in the evening cooked their dinner. The students were very proficient with tents set up and it was great to see the collaboration between them to solve any difficulties, especially with the wind.
The weather was kind and there was a lovely sunset on Friday, with a lovely sunrise on Saturday morning. Students were up bright and early in the morning, with groups setting off from 7:30am. Staff met students along the way and were demonstrating key DofE skills.
Throughout the expedition the students were able to implement all the skills they learnt on their training day including campcraft, navigational skills and teamwork. The students certainly learnt a lot about navigating through the Bedfordshire countryside.
We are looking forward to the cohort demonstrating their improved skills during their assessed expedition next weekend.
