This has been the final week of the Bake Off competition, which has taken place over eight weeks! The final brief was afternoon tea, view the amazing entries here. Miss MacKenzie (Headmistress), has judged the final week and the winners are as follows:

Winner of the Final Challenge, Afternoon Tea – Catriana Boul (Year 9) - Nightingale

Most points overall – Ella Coupland (Year 3) - Nightingale

Most creative entry – Polly Taylor (Year 8) (her week 5 entry in particular) - Franklin

The top 5 for the final week’s Afternoon Tea Challenge were:

Ava Ormon-Wheeler (Lower Sixth) - Chanel

Jenna Mistry (Year 3) - Parks

Holly Smith (Lower Sixth) - Nightingale

 

Over the weeks, each House has been allocated a point for every entry. These have been added together with the additional points for 1st to 5 places to find the final totals for the Bake Off competition.  There were over 200 brilliant entries organised by Mrs Lovett (Head of Food and Nutrition), who gave every entrant every week some positive feedback! Congratulations to Nightingale who clearly have a number of magnificent chefs!

The second competition with a deadline this week was the Philosophy and Religion Department - Eid Card House Competition. View the entries here.

There were three overall winners with 5 House Points:

Hanifah Mia (Year 9) - Hepburn

Daisy Minney (Lower Sixth) - Austen

Jaya Chambers (Lower Sixth) – Nightingale

 

Two Teacher winners with 5 House points:

Ms Davies (Computer Science and Digital Design Creator) – Nightingale

Mrs Howlett (Deputy Head of PE) – Hepburn

 

Runners up with 2 House Points:

Sabira Egan (Lower Sixth) - Franklin

Neve Parsons (Lower Sixth) – Nightingale

Minnat Raheem (Year 7) – Parks

Katherine Whitehead (Lower Sixth) – Nightingale

Alex Gentry (Year 9) – Franklin

 

Each House was also allocated a point for every entry and the final results were as follows with Nightingale sneaking top spot for the second time this week! Austen (10), Chanel (2), Franklin (13), Hepburn (31), Nightingale (33) and Parks (5)

Thank you to Mrs Pagliaro for running this competition and for Mr Pagliaro for judging it.  The cards create the perfect opportunity to wish BGS a Happy Eid.

Don’t forget the deadlines on the following new and ongoing House Challenges

  • Senior School 3-D Craft Competition with the theme ‘fantasy creatures’. Please see the email from Mrs Axford about more details. Deadline Sunday 31st May.
  • Junior and Senior School Hockey Sporting competition deadline end of May Half Term.
  • Senior School Time Capsule Competition deadline Friday 29th May.

Highly commended submissions for each task will be publicised in your weekly BGS Community EDIT, on our social media sites and will be rewarded with more house points towards your House Totals.
