On the 10th - 11th February, Bassingbourn Barracks played host to the Intelligence Corps Competition, which saw cadets from the BGS and Bedford School showcasing their skills in an intense and challenging competition against Combined Cadet Force units from across the country.

Cadet Company Sergeant Major, Ciara Allen (Upper Sixth) reflected on the success of winning the competition: “A team of eight cadets set off for the Intelligence Corps Competition on Friday 10th February, hosted by the Intelligence Corps of the British Army. Starting on Saturday morning we took part in several scored activities throughout the day that were set up for us. This included a sprint and shoot, survival stand and tank recognition as well as a fun unmarked paintball exercise.

“The competition also gave the team the chance to learn and implement new skills such as map marking where we used a selection of reports in various forms (of a fake scenario) to identify locations of enemy activity and had to predict their next move. This was new for all, but the team were eager to participate and worked together to formulate an excellent brief for the Commanding Officer who was a regular in the British Army.

“All of the cadets thoroughly enjoyed the experience and were all delighted when Bedford School CCF was announced as this year’s winners.

“Cadet Regimental Sergeant Major, James Barney and I were thrilled with this outcome and very proud of the effort put in by our team who faced every challenge with a unique approach and smiling faces.”

Many congratulations to following Intelligence Corps Competition Team:

BGS - Ciara Allen, Licia Cacioppo, Catherine Chaplin, Danae Karavaggelis and Haneha Kaur.

Bedford School - James Barney, Charlie Lawrence and Will Reddy.
