BGS Take the Lead in CCF

Sixth Form CCF

On Friday 30 June, the senior cadets of the joint BGS and Bedford School Combined Cadet Force (CCF) said farewell to the departing Upper Sixth Senior NCOs (Non-Commissioned Officers) at a social evening.

This means it’s now time for the next year group to adopt the leadership roles within the organisation.

Each year, selection takes place for leadership roles within the CCF contingent. These appointments are made as the cadets finish the Lower Sixth and are a reward for proven leadership skills and commitment throughout their time in the CCF.

CCF is becoming increasingly popular at BGS, with ever growing numbers of students joining from Year 9. Five of the seven senior leadership roles for 2023-24 have been awarded to BGS students – a fantastic result which reflects the growing interest within our school. Congratulations to Lottie Giles (Head of Corps), Alex Gentry (Head of Navy), Izzy Jackson (Head of RAF). Also, congratulations to Clea Grimshaw (Head of Navy Training) and Haneha Kaur (Head of Army Training).

Izzy Jackson said: “I am looking forward to working with the other senior NCOs to deliver an exciting programme for the cadets. We hope to inspire younger female recruits to continue with CCF and become the future leaders,”

Fl. Lt Chris Tansell added: “I am truly impressed by the engagement and dedication exhibited by these girls who have actively participated in the Combined Cadet Force (CCF), embraced the challenges of the CCF and emerged as exceptional leaders.

“To see the students stepping up and assuming leadership positions within the CCF is a testament to their potential and the transformative power of equal opportunities.”
