After an action-packed term of training, our BGS Combined Cadet Force (CCF) students together with boys from Bedford School were ready to compete in the RAF Air Squadron Trophy competition.

On the weekend ast February, cadets from Central and East CCF RAFAC showcased their skills and determination as they competed in the Royal Air Sqn Trophy (RAST) annual regional heats. The competition, held over two days, tested teams across a range of disciplines, including Drill, Leadership, Cyber, Space, Shooting and First Aid.

Throughout the event, the cadets demonstrated outstanding teamwork, discipline, and resilience, earning high praise from assessing staff. Particular recognition was given to Cadet Flight Sergeant, Scarlet Jenkins (Upper Sixth), whose exceptional leadership skills stood out, guiding her team with confidence and composure under pressure.

The team placed 13th overall, with notable rankings in individual categories: 4th in the Command Task, 9th in Shooting, 11th in Space, 13th in Cyber/Air Recognition, 15th in Drill and 16th in First Aid.

Scarlet Jenkins reflected: “Despite not placing as high as we'd hoped, I very much enjoyed the day, and all the leadership or puzzle-based activities. We improved in many categories from last year, and I have high hopes for next year's team!”
