Trips and Excursions

On Thursday 12th September, our Year 10 students embarked on a thrilling three-day, two-night fun filled, adrenaline based, outdoor adventure residential to Edale.

For three nights they were based at one of the highest residences in the Peak District, the YHA Edale. The students participated in various risk-taking activities such as rock climbing, abseiling, weaselling, canoeing and caving, which required students to push themselves outside of their comfort zones and support each other to overcome their fears. A great start to Year 10 and teaching them how to rise to any challenge they may face.

Mariyam Azeez (Year 10) reflected: “During my recent trip to Edale. I experienced an incredible adventure filled with breathtaking landscapes and challenging activities. Our group arrived in the afternoon, greeted by the stunning views of the Peak District. The trip began with a hike along the rolling hills and greenery. As we set off, eager to explore the natural beauty that surrounded us. The hike was very fun and exciting. We hiked from gentle slopes to steeper inclines. Along the way, we encountered vibrant wildflowers and bilberries that were delicious. After minutes of hiking, we reached a scenic viewpoint that offered a panoramic view of the valley below, providing the perfect opportunity for a photo to capture the moment…”

Safa Akbur (Year 10) added: “Our trip to Edale was a whirlwind of activities, challenges and building stronger friendships. We were assigned into groups, and I appreciated the way the teachers mixed us up with people we wouldn't usually work with. It felt different, but in a good way. Everyone got along well, and it gave us the chance to bond with others outside of our usual circles. The first activity was problem-solving, which was a lot of fun. We worked together as a team, and we all enjoyed the games we played…”
