Lower Sixth IB

On Friday 16th November, the Lower Sixth IB cohort visited the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge with their fellow Bedford School peers, which tied in with their Theory of Knowledge curriculum.

The day was filled with insightful and interesting activities, including a tour based on image and identity, where we learnt how to truly observe and appreciate various pieces and types of art, followed by an exhibition on Virginia Woolf, which contained a selection of all-female interpretations of her work, and finally a lecture on religion and truth. The lecture, which took place in the prestigious Clare College Chapel, was taken by the Dean of Divinity, and gave us a greater understanding of the hierarchy of truth. Olivia Benjamin said: “The talk was really eye-opening and made me think about the scriptures in a way I never had before.”

At the end of the day, we were given some time to explore Cambridge, where we able to take in and appreciate the architecture, particularly King’s College Chapel. This trip was a great opportunity to meet and spend time with our fellow Bedford School IB students, whose friendships are likely to prove very valuable over the next couple of years.
