We are delighted to announce that Isla Campbell (Lower Sixth) has been selected for the U18 England Hockey squad following successful trials last month.

Isla was invited to the U18 trials at the end of the England U16 cycle and joined over 50 other players at the first round, which took place over three days at Lilleshall National Sports Centre. The trialists included some current England U18s, the shortlisted England U16 cohort and additional players from Talent Academies and open trials.

We are pleased to share that Isla progressed to the second round. Another three-day trial, attended by 40 players, followed and Isla learned on Friday 1st October that she had made the final squad after an anxious wait!

Isla’s season with the U16 England Hockey team was exceptional. In June, the team defeated Germany for the first time in many years. Isla further impressed during the 4 Nations tournament in July, earning her 12th cap for England.

Isla reflected on her selection: “I am very happy and honoured to have been selected for the U18s England Hockey squad this year. As it’s a European Championship year, we have lots of high-intensity training camps planned, so I’m looking forward to learning from the high level of play and the older, more experienced players in the squad!”

We wish Isla every success as she continues her journey with the England Hockey squad and look forward to supporting her in this exciting new chapter.
