On Tuesday 3 December, our Year 11 and Upper Sixth students travelled to London for a festive and enjoyable day at Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park.
Koi Kamau (Upper Sixth) reflected on the trip: “The trip to Winter Wonderland was a wonderful experience. The venue was adorned with lights everywhere, creating a truly festive atmosphere.
“The highlight for me was seeing the extraordinary talent displayed at the circus with all my friends. The show was packed with daring stunts, comedic humour, and fantastic audience participation. The best act by far was the tightrope artist, who demonstrated an incredible balance between elegance and danger and definitely had me on the edge of my seat!
“I also braved as many rides as possible, managing to go on five in total. My favourite ride was the Munich Looping, which features a series of five loops. I loved seeing our faces in the pictures snapped at the end. A portion of my time was spent exploring the Christmas market, which was a delight, filled with handcrafted trinkets.
“There was a wide selection of food to cater to everyone’s preferences, ranging from Greek and Mexican dishes to churros and cookie dough. I decided to try a roast wrap, which consisted of a delicious roast dinner wrapped in a massive Yorkshire pudding. At the end of the day, I treated myself to a hot chocolate topped with whipped cream and marshmallows to warm up.
“Overall, Winter Wonderland was a fantastic trip, and I feel fortunate to have experienced it. I came away with many shared laughs and cherished memories.”
Mrs Lonsdale (Sixth Form Pastoral Officer) added: “A fun day off timetable was a welcome break for our Year 11s. For our Upper Sixth cohort, it was invaluable for supporting their overall well-being, providing balance during this busy academic period of exam preparation and UCAS applications. It was heartwarming to see them enjoy social connections away from their studies, kickstarting the festive season.”
