It has been a busy few months for water polo player Ella Cotton (Upper Sixth). During the summer, Ella attended a sporting excellence camp in Croatia sponsored by Swim England, this was followed by a week’s England national academy camp held at Millfield School.
Last weekend Ella was in Prague competing in the EU Nations Club Cup with her home club Coventry Ladies. The team won their first four matches against top clubs from Serbia, Sweden, Italy and the Czech Republic. Ella scored in the first three matches before retiring from the fourth with a suspected dislocated thumb. The team eventually claimed the silver medal. This was fantastic preparation for the British Water Polo season ahead, where each month the other top division clubs meet to play league matches. Ella has a busy 2018 schedule ahead, competing in Liverpool, Lancaster and Bolton.
Ella said: “I am very lucky to have been given these amazing opportunities, against such high level clubs and players. It has taken a lot of hard work and perseverance, to overcome many hurdles in these past busy months. I am looking forward to the next few months of Super 5’s taking place all around the country, and hopefully be selected into the U19 GB European team in 2019.”
