On Wednesday 19th September, Year 8 enjoyed a day of team building activities at Cople Fields. They participated in a succession of seven bespoke activities followed by a whole team challenge. Communication, co-operation, respect, resilience and adaptation were all skills highlighted by the girls, which contributed to successful teams. The girls learnt many outdoor skills including putting up a tent in less than ten minutes and cooking chilli outside on a trangia.
Poppy Phillips found the windy weather conditions challenging, she said: “The trip to Cople Fields was incredible fun. Although we were having to pin our tents down in the tail end of a hurricane! We learnt how to work with new people, using our different abilities to come together and complete tasks. I really enjoyed building a tent scene from a picture, crossing the invisible maze and packing a camping bag at racing speed. However, the chilli we cooked on the trangia was a bit spicy because we got the chilli powder and tomato puree mixed up. I am looking forward to using the skills I learnt as I move through Year 8.”
Mrs Clements, Head of Years 7 and 8, was extremely impressed by the girls team spirit and commented: “The girls responded to each situation with an open mind, but most importantly adapted very successfully to the ever-changing challenging and windy weather conditions”.
