By Mrs Schofield (Head of Year 4)
Year 4 had a fabulous day visiting the British Museum on Friday 1st December. This trip supported our current Unit of Inquiry: The present and future are influenced by the past. Students visited exhibitions to support their learning about a chosen civilization, focusing on either the Romans, Egyptians or Aztecs.
The girls used their iPads to record key information, adding photos and text that were relevant to their learning. This required a lot of big picture thinking and planning. They were also fortunate to have some allocated time for sketching, ready to inspire artwork back at school. While sketching, they had to consider their knowledge of shading to ensure the finished product was as detailed as possible. It was wonderful to see the girls excited by the amazing artefacts on display and to observe them sharing their excitement about each new discovery with their peers.
At the end of the visit, there was time for a 'quick' visit to the museum shop before returning home. There was plenty of opportunity to use their rounding skills practised in our Maths lessons to ensure they remained within their budget!
Back in school, the girls have begun organising the information they collected as they make connections between what they have seen and our lines of inquiry.
