Junior School LRC

By Ms Rogers (LRC Manager)

This morning, the Junior School were treated to a visit by children’s author, Eve Wersocki Morris. Eve grew up in North London and has been making up stories her whole life. Despite being diagnosed with dyslexia and branded ‘the worst speller’ in her class, she wrote her first full novel aged thirteen and started submitting titles to publishing companies at only fifteen. Currently a Publicity Manager at Simon & Schuster Children’s Books and the author of four successful children’s books, Eve is a member of the Publishers Publicity Circle committee and volunteers with Coram Beanstalk Literacy Charity as a reading helper for children.

Eve’s visit allowed the girls to gain a first-hand insight into the creative processes behind storytelling. It provided an opportunity for them to ask reflective questions and meet a ‘real life’ published author. In addition, Eve’s visit is particularly beneficial to those who have a dyslexia diagnosis or find writing more challenging. Everyone came away inspired by Eve’s story and realising that we all have the capabilities to tell a good story, that just might become a future best-seller.
