By Harriet Knights, Lower Sixth
Last Thursday Harriet Lusty, a former Art and Textile student at BGS, came and spoke to an IB Art class about her experiences of studying Sculpture at Edinburgh University.
Harriet started her degree in September (2016), after completing her Foundation Art course at Bedford College in May 2016.
She brought along her portfolio and sketchbooks from her foundation and current sculpture course to show the students the different examples of a Visual Arts journal, which is a pivotal part of the IB Visual Arts experience.
Harriet also reflected on her experiences during the Foundation course, including exploring the limitations and potential of materials in an abstracted way, working with a concept and the completion of six projects within a 4-week period, resonated with the IB style of working, and the girls benefited from Harriet’s advice and her opinions about their own art work.
Furthermore, Harriet spoke of the benefits of doing an Art Foundation course, how it improved her skills as an artist as well as increasing her confidence.
