We are incredibly proud of 2023 BGS alumna Etienne Maughan, whose international success on the track continues to soar.

The sprint hurdler was recently honoured with the Rising Star award at the Sport Newcastle Awards Ceremony on Friday 15th November, where she received her trophy from triple jump world record holder Jonathan Edwards.

In October, Etienne was also recognised with the Senior Women’s award at the Bedford & County Athletics Club’s annual awards evening.

Currently studying English Literature and History at Newcastle University, Etienne has enjoyed another remarkable year in the world of 100m hurdles. Her achievements include victories at the British University Championships and the Loughborough International, where she broke her own record, as well as a Silver medal at the U23 England Athletics Championships.

Her talent continues to inspire BGS students and we cannot wait to see what she achieves next.
