Senior School Art & Textiles

By Mrs Lugsden (Head of Art and Textiles)

On Tuesday 14th January we were delighted to offer our Year 10 Fine Artists a one day workshop exploring printing techniques.

Groups spent time developing an etching plate, reflecting on their current research into the work of Morandi, exploring hatched lines to show tone and form. Students were able to learn this new printing technique, and have a go using the printing presses. We then explored the more familiar lino printing technique, reflecting on the work of a contemporary print artist. Students were able to use digitally edited Photoshop images to support this design process, resulting in some stunning designs.

The work generated on this workshop was of great quality, and will be highly valued additions to students’ portfolios, enriching evidence for their coursework submissions.
