With the 1st team having travelled to Moreton Hall for a pre-season tournament in the first weekend of term and the 2nd team having played an exciting match with Stowe last Thursday; both senior teams were well prepared for their Beds/Herts tournament (Saturday 22nd September).

The 2nd team had a very frantic morning playing in a round robin tournament with eight, 8 minute matches! This team had some brilliant moments and some great results but struggled to maintain a high level of play throughout.  Rosalie Inman (Upper Sixth) was awarded the MVP (Most Valuable Player) award for this team, leading by example in the centre and working tirelessly throughout.

The 1st team are developing into a very cohesive, supportive squad with lots of exciting potential. BGS started well in a very competitive first match against St Albans winning 5-3.  Berkhamsted proved too strong in the 2nd winning that 7-1. However, BGS came back with two more authoritative wins against St George’s and Haberdashers to face Berkhamsted yet again in the final.

In the final Berkhamsted came out winners with a 6-2 victory, but BGS made them work hard for it and thoroughly deserved their silver medals on the day.  A special mention goes to Milly David (Year 11), who was awarded MVP for the 1st team, Milly competed well throughout the tournament, scoring some outstanding goals under pressure to help secure the crucial victory against St Albans in the first match of the day.

Finishing as runners up has ensured that BGS 1st team have qualified for the South East Finals tournament, which will take place in February 2019.
