Michelle gained a Bachelor of Laws - LLB degree from the University of Bristol, graduating with a First Class in 2021.

Michelle reflected on her time at BGS and why problem solving is a vital aspect in her education and current career: "Looking back at the education given at BGS, I can see how it encouraged us to take our learning outside the classroom and apply it beyond. Now having graduated from university and starting in my new role, I can appreciate how valuable that way of learning was. An integral part of our education and a skill I draw on regularly is that of problem solving.

"Problem solving is a key part of my role day-to-day. When reading legal documents, a ‘problem’ occurs more often than not and the goal is to find a suitable solution for all parties involved. To do this, many steps need to be taken: all consequences have to be examined, the poor options discarded and the best pitted against each other. To me, the key part of problem solving is the courage to have confidence in your solutions. Being in a schooling environment where all answers were encouraged through engagement and purposeful consideration fostered a self-confidence in my sharing opinions and answers. Today, this is something that continues to serve me well.”
