Rowing

January has come and BGS rowing is into it’s second term and the Big Head season is upon us.  These are long distance races raced in a processional time trial.  If you have never participated in rowing or would just like to have a look at what the girls do, they will be racing on the Great River Ouse 11th February 2017 eights and fours. Please do come and support the #DamsonArmy

There have been some big changes in the boat club this term with the introduction of two new members of staff. Mr Ward has joined us from Dulwich College and will be instrumental at helping to ensure the year 9 programme is watertight. Mr Hyder has joined us from Newington School, Australia and he will be such an asset working with the senior elite rowers. Miss Harris (BGS Alumnae) and myself make up the team of four.

This term we will be offering our Years 11 to Upper Sixth none rowers Meta-Row. This is a high intensity interval training which uses more calories than any other activity. There is no fitness level and experience required, as we will run through a programme and develop everyone at their individual level.

For those of you who were or have rowed there is the Rowing Ball 2.2.18 this is an opportunity to discuss what is good and great with the sport.  If you would like tickets which are still available please contact [email protected].

This term the girls will be racing

11.2.18 Bedford 4’s & 8’s Head – Home Race please come and support
