On Saturday 25th November, our J15 and J16 rowers took to the Tideway for the season-opening race for eights at Quintin Head. The event provided an excellent opportunity for both crews to experience racing on this renowned stretch of the Thames.
Covering approximately 4.4km from Chiswick Bridge to Fulham Reach, the course offers a valuable introduction to the Tideway, replicating the Head of the River format but at a slightly shorter distance. With hundreds of crews on the water, the race tested both technical skill and endurance.
Both BGS eights delivered strong performances, finishing 8th and 5th in their respective categories. These results mark a promising start to the winter rowing season, setting a competitive tone for the months ahead.
The squad now looks ahead to their next event, the Peterborough Head of the Nene, taking place this Saturday.
