BGS Head Swimming coach Mr Castro added a silver medal to his growing collection at the recent ETU Triathlon European Championships in Weert, Netherlands on Sunday 2nd June.

After winning the 30-34 male sprint race in Glasgow last year, Mr Castro added a silver over the Olympic distance in the 30-34 standard race at the weekend in Weert.

We spoke to Mr Castro about the championship, he said: “This was another great experience and I was very happy to achieve the silver medal. I had a good swim and good bike but unfortunately really struggled on the run and got over taken with 3km to go. I am now looking forward to another block of hard training to get ready for the World Championships at the end of the summer holidays.

The European silver follows the two gold medals he claimed at the World Triathlon Championships in the 30-34 Olympic and Sprint categories in Australia last September.

An inspiring role model to all students, BGS and the whole community are extremely proud of Mr Castro’s achievements.
