Whole School The Bridge Careers Service

We have just come to the end of the seventh year of the BGS Alumnae Mentoring Programme 2023/2024, working with 16 pairs of student mentees and alumnae mentors.

We are very proud of this successful programme as part of the school’s vision to equip our students for an ever-changing working world. Run in conjunction with The Alumnae, the programme is open to all students in Year 12 to apply.

All the Mentors involved with the programme are alumnae. The programme offers them a way of contributing to school life through helping our students widen their skills; whilst also enhancing their own personal development. The programme starts to introduce The Alumnae community to the Sixth Formers and enables them to understand first-hand the supportive network of women supporting women as students move beyond school.

Each year we are always delighted that we have a range of mentors from a diverse background of careers, offering our participating students another perspective and guidance of life beyond BGS. This year our mentors have represented careers in the following industries, The Services (Army, Royal Air Force and Royal Navy), Beauty, Marketing, Business Psychology, Dentistry and the Civil Service, to name just a few.

Our current Year 12 students will attend an assembly on Wednesday 4th December providing them with more information about the programme and details of how to apply.

If you are an alumna and would be keen to mentor in the future, please do get in touch with Emma MacKenzie, Alumnae Manager at [email protected].
