Year 10 Geographers spent a productive three days in Sheringham this week.

Arriving in North Norfolk on Sunday they quickly began to collect data in the traditional coastal town.

Questionnaires were undertaken, traffic and pedestrians counted and the quality of the environment assessed. Physical Geographers headed for the beach and examined the ways in which the coastline has been managed, and worked in groups to measure the beach profile and to see evidence of longshore drift.

Evenings were spent writing up and presenting data for their Controlled Assessments. This piece of work represents 25% of their GCSE.

On Monday night (27th June), the group walked along the beach and up onto Beeston hill, where the girls enjoyed the view and saw for themselves the impact of cliff collapse.

Nicola Crolla said: “Although hard work, it was a great trip and will set us all in a good place for the coastal and tourism sections of our GCSE.”
