The Spanish Department recently hosted a VR experience to enhance Year 8 students' learning of restaurant vocabulary and structures. Wearing VR headsets, students stepped into a virtual tapas restaurant, where they practised ordering food in a realistic setting, bringing their language skills to life.

The virtual restaurant was beautifully designed with authentic Spanish elements, including traditional paintings, rustic wooden furniture, and even a mounted bull’s head on the wall, creating a truly immersive cultural atmosphere. Students took turns using the headsets, engaging in interactive activities that reinforced their speaking and listening skills. They explored real menus, checked food prices, and observed traditional Spanish dishes such as patatas bravas and churros, making the experience both educational and engaging.

This activity not only helped students put their classroom learning into practice but also boosted their confidence in speaking Spanish in real-life situations. The combination of technology and language learning proved to be an excellent tool, making the lesson more dynamic, fun and interactive.
