Trips and Excursions Science

Emily Lawson and Steph West (Year 8)

On Tuesday, Year 8 visited the Science Museum in London and uncovered the hidden secrets of Mathematics in a way many of us had not looked at it before.

The day was full of interesting questions and exciting experiments, including a fantastic show on rockets. We explored the Wonder Lab and tested friction on different materials by going down slides on grass, plastic and wood. We watched the rocket show, which explained about how rockets take off and the fuel they use.

There was also a section where we watched and took part in chemistry experiments. The Winton Gallery was one of many highlights, which told the story of how mathematics shaped our world. The gallery displayed over 100 objects including an experimental aircraft.

The trip was very informative and by the end the day we were all glad to get in the coach and give our legs a rest from climbing all those stairs!
