By Mrs Whomsley (Head of Year 5)
Year 5 wrapped up their week with excitement, diving into the wonders of the universe through a visit from a Planetarium. This term, we are exploring the Central Idea: Curiosity continues to shape our understanding of the universe, beginning with our first Line of Inquiry, which focuses on exploring the solar system. The planetarium helped develop their understanding as well as sparking further curiosity about the universe. Each class had the chance to "travel" through space in the comfort of our school hall, exploring stars, planets, and galaxies.
Following their visit, pupils reflected on the key questions we have about our solar system, using these to guide their inquiry.
Freja (5W) said: “It was really fun and I really enjoyed the Planetarium because it brought the universe to life in a 3D way. It explained about the planets and gave us lots of information.”
Kitty (5BR) added: “The experience was 3 dimensional. I felt like I was in space. What a great feeling, going into Space during the school day!”
We’re looking forward to our trip to the Space Centre in two weeks, where we’ll discover even more about space travel and technology – it’s going to be an exciting journey!
