As a way to challenged ourselves, we entered The Integral Maths Ritangle competition, which started in October.

The competition, hosted every year by Integral, consists of 24 questions which were released over two months and each one can take up to one hour to solve. In a tense maths lesson on Tuesday, we managed to solve the 24th question. At 4pm that day, they released the final multistage question and another further mathematician joined our ranks. After nearly two months completing the first 24, we are on the final stretch! For the first stage, we had to decode a 114-digit string of numbers into an 8-digit word. We are now on stage two which involves solving another 8 problems in order to unlock stage three.

Wish us luck and see what we get up to on the Maths Department’s Twitter account here.
