By Mrs Lincoln (English and Psychology Teacher)
On Monday 3rd March, we were delighted to welcome back alumna Dr Rachel Tisi (BGS 2015) who has recently been awarded a PhD for her research in forensic psychology. She came to speak to our Sixth Form students about what studying Psychology at university entails and what a career in research looks like.
It was fascinating to hear about her research into Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) and the risk factors for this, as well as her current work with the police force in Kent where she is helping to inform the police’s training procedures in dealing with such cases. She is hoping to complete further research in the future into how victims of such violence can best be supported, how the risk factors can be mitigated for perpetrators of IPV and variations in IPV across a range of different cultures.
Thanks should also go to our three Lower Sixth students who helped to promote this session – Mia Vadgama, Isabella Moretto and Isla Harris. It’s been great to see them get so involved with Psych Soc this year and give up their time to support events like this!
Rachel is going to be a delegate at the upcoming UN Commission on the Status of Women, and we are really looking forward to hearing how her career develops.
