Mr Mason-McLeod (Director of Sport, Maternity Cover)
It has been brilliant to see the students at BGS back playing sport this week. The PE and rowing staff have been impressed on how many students have participated in before school, lunch time and after school co-curricular clubs. With only two more weeks remaining this term we are hoping more students will come to our co-curricular activities, especially those who haven’t come before as we want everyone to have the opportunity to be active outside their curriculum lessons especially after the long lockdown. Step out of your comfort-zone and try a new club!
Miss Bruce (Director of Rowing) added: “It has been lovely to see the boat club reunited on the River Ouse this week. Both myself and Miss Huckle (Head Rowing Coach) are really excited to enjoy the Spring and Summer on the banks of the river as the students improve their rowing, enjoy sport with their friends and fingers crossed, enjoy the experience of a side by side race.
“Looking forward, we are hoping to introduce more rowing sessions during the school weeks and will also be holding holidays sessions for all of the girls throughout the Easter holidays. With lighter evenings and hopefully warmer temperatures creeping in, we are set to have a productive and fun filled rest of the school year.”
Finally, we would like to highlight the amazing success of Karis Nisbett-Hadaway (Upper Sixth), who has been training with England Netball’s Rose Academy Long squad, which is a massive achievement.
