By Ms Smith (Speech and Drama Coordinator)
On Wednesday evening, the Randle Hall came alive as the Speech and Drama Department hosted its annual concert, welcoming families to celebrate the talents of students from Junior School through to Sixth Form.
The evening opened with all the students coming together in a multi-level choral tableau, demonstrating how Speech and Drama lessons inspire engagement, build confidence and encourage every student to do their best. The performances began with Year 3 students, whose energy and enthusiasm set the tone for the evening as they presented their verse selection from the Bedfordshire Festival of Music, Speech and Drama.
The concert featured a range of solo, duet and group performances, from a comedic duologue adapted from James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl to a powerful and reflective interpretation of The Stones by Brendan Kennelly.
Six Lower Sixth students, each of whom had incorporated Speech and Drama into their timetables upon joining BGS in Years 3, 7 or 9, introduced the performances and shared their thoughts on the value and enjoyment these lessons have brought to their school experience.
Congratulations to all involved. Miss Burns and I are proud of the way you took ownership of your performances and put real meaning into every word.
