Year 7 report
Mrs Lombaard (PE Teacher)
On Saturday the 8th May, 13 Year 7 students competed in their very first Senior School fixture. Despite the high wind and outbursts of rain, they all played some fantastic tennis against Wycombe Abbey School. Poppy Whitford and Poppy Clarke played beautifully to win all their matches in the A team despite some strong opponents. In the B team there were also notable match wins for pairs Holly Stuart and Jemima Deane as well as Bella Holt and Charlotte Proctor. Overall, the A team won 42-36 and the B team fell to Wycombe 25-40. A huge well done to all the Year 7 pupils who took part in the match.
Year 8 report
Miss Bentley (PE Teacher)
On Saturday 8th May, the U13 tennis squad took on Wycombe Abbey in wet and blustery conditions. All students demonstrated fantastic resilience in light of the weather and arrived with smiles on their faces, ready to play. After a tentative start BGS soon found their stride. The teams were asked to play for 25 minutes, playing as many games as they could. The A team faced a strong Wycombe side and they battled well to draw 45 games all. While the B team took a commanding lead early on and won their match 50 games to 32. It was brilliant to see the players growing in confidence throughout the course of the three matches. Very well done to all who took part and good luck in your upcoming match against Kimbolton this weekend.
We look forward to a plethora of tennis fixtures for all standards and experience, across all age groups as the term continues.
