At Cople Fields on Monday afternoon, history was made as BGS hosted its first football match. This marked an important step in our school’s journey, as football was only introduced this academic year. Our Under-13 team faced a challenging opponent, the experienced St Albans High School for Girls.
The atmosphere carried a mix of excitement and nerves as the game began. The first half saw our students adapting to the pace and intensity of competitive football. In the second half, the team played with more confidence, showing attacking intent and determination. Despite the opposition’s strong defence and their goalkeeper’s skill, our players demonstrated moments of progress and teamwork on the field.
Though the final score was 5-0, the match provided valuable lessons and positives, including teamwork and resilience. Our students left the field inspired and eager to build on this experience for their next game.
This match marks the start of a promising future for football at BGS. With continued practice and commitment, there is much to look forward to. Well done to all involved.
