On Friday 28th January, we were joined at lunchtime by knitwear extraordinaire, Amy Osgood (BGS 2016), alumna and talented Assistant Designer of Nobody’s Child, to talk to budding BGS creatives.
Following school, Amy went to the University of Southampton where she studied Fashion and Textile Design. Amy specialised in knitting and following graduation joined fashion online retailer, ASOS, before joining eco-conscious retailer, Nobody’s Child.
In the inspiring setting of the Art Room, Amy talked to current BGS students about her journey since leaving school. She brought along some of her beautiful portfolios from her studies which included some of her garment specs, her inspirations, along with her many designs in different formats and colourways. Amy also talked about the contrasting working environments she has experienced, from fast fashion to a small ethical label. The latter has given her the opportunity to understand the wider fashion business, not solely the creative, from buying to merchandising, finance to marketing.
