Senior School Food and Nutrition

For last week’s International Cookery Club on Thursday 3rd February, we welcomed alumna, Meetali Parekh (BHS 1998), into school to demonstrate to the students how to make delicious chilli paneer, with a side accompaniment of sizzling peppers and onions.

Meetali showed how this quick dish can be adapted to your own heat level and that it can both be enjoyed on its own or alongside other dishes. Additionally, the students were treated to some homemade paneer that Meetali’s mum had made that morning: the difference between processed and fresh paneer was quite a revelation!

Around a varied career in Finance and Technology, both in the UK and the Far East, Meetali has also had a creative outlet as a food blogger, showcasing her family heritage; inspired recipes from Gujarat, India. To read more about Meetali’s recipes click here.

Tami Oginni (Year 8) commented: “I really enjoyed the International Cuisine Cooking Club after school last week. We were able to cook a Gujarati cuisine called dry chilli paneer. I found this really enjoyable to cook as I had never made something like it before. The group also enjoyed learning about Gujarati culture and the various cuisines in this Indian state. The International Cookery Club has been really fun to go to and I’ve learnt a lot more about different cultures and countries.”

We are always delighted to welcome former students back into school and including them to enrich school life for our current students.
