Many congratulations to BGS alumna and talented rugby star, Rosie Inman (2019), who alongside her team, lifted the coveted British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) Super Rugby trophy and became Women's National League Champions!
Competing for Durham University Women's RFC, the team won 38-15 against Edinburgh University Ladies RFC.
Rosie is currently studying Biological Sciences at Durham and also plays for the DMP Durham Sharks, who are the leading Women's Rugby side in the North East.
We spoke to Rosie about her rugby career, she said: “Since leaving BGS, I’ve had the pleasure of playing for the Womens Rugby 1st XV at Durham University for three years now. It’s really allowed me to develop as a player as it’s a very structured programme with great coaching available both on the pitch and in the gym. This season I was also selected to play rugby for DMP Sharks, who represent the North East of England in the Women's Allianz Premier 15s. It’s a privilege to play at this level, both against and alongside brilliant players, and I am thoroughly enjoying the opportunity. I’m hoping to continue my rugby career playing at this level after graduating this summer!”
For over 100 years BUCS has been at the forefront of university sport in the United Kingdom. It is responsible for organising more than 52 inter-university sports within the UK and representative teams for the World University Championships and the World University Games.
