The U12A and U13A netball teams did BGS proud on Monday evening by winning the Bedford School Games county tournament.

After missing out on the chance of becoming district champions earlier this term, the U12s put this right by going undefeated in the county tournament.

After drawing 5-5 in the first match with Lincroft Middle School, the U12s won their next three matches, including a 4-2 victory over Bedford Modern School, to win the county title.

Miss Huckle, Head of Netball, said: “The U12A team worked extremely hard throughout the tournament. The girls’ determination, communication and confidence lead them to victory, as well as some excellent feeding into the shooting circle and tireless defensive efforts from all seven players on the court.”

The U13As, who went undefeated in the district competition, won all five of their matches on Monday, including a 8-4 win over Robert Bloomfield School.

This led to the girls being named team of the tournament and Georgina Wright winning player of the tournament.

Miss Huckle added: “The girls played very well together, adapting quickly to changes and fighting for every loose ball on the court.”
