Year 11 student Emily Baker took part in her first ever GB Rowing trials in Boston last weekend.

The event in Lincolnshire also marked Emily’s debut over the 5km distance in a single boat.

Competing in the singles first on the Saturday, she enjoyed a good race, rowing technically well to finish a respectable 28th place.

The following day, Emily competed in a double scull with her partner from Maidenhead rowing club, where they performed strongly to finish in 12th place.

Miss Round, Head of Rowing at BGS, said: “This was a very good experience for Emily and having already trialled this year, it will stand her in very good stead for trialling at the start of next season.”
