As part of Culture Day on Wednesday 1st November, the Art and Drama Department joined forces to take all the Year 7s to London to visit the Tate Modern and watch a matinee performance of Beowulf at the Unicorn Theatre. It was a wonderfully enriching day with fantastic paintings and sculpture on view and a theatrically original, heavy metal interpretation of one of the oldest surviving epic poems. The Art and Drama Department would like to thank all the girls; it was pleasure to escort such enthusiastic and well-mannered pupils.
Year 7 pupil Natasha Miller thoroughly enjoyed the Culture Day and added: “The trip was brilliant; I loved everything from the exceptional artwork, to the thrilling piece of drama. My favourite part was the three person swings in the Tate Modern. The gargantuan metal piece of art comes in a close second, it swung from side-to-side (but I have to say, laying underneath it did not fill me with confidence.) It was a great trip, thank you very much.”
