Every year October 10th marks World Mental Health Day, with this year’s theme being Young People and Mental Health in a Changing World. This day serves as an opportunity to highlight mental health and wellbeing with events happening across the globe encouraging people to talk about their mental health, with the aim of reducing the stigma attached to mental illness.
As a school, we recognise the importance of helping our students build mental resilience in order to cope with the challenges of today’s world and, as part of this, our Senior staff and students have spent the last week having conversations about how to maintain or improve their mental health and that of their friends and family. This included practical tips, such as having regular routines for eating, sleeping and exercise, as well as more personal suggestions.
On Wednesday, both staff and students were then encouraged to make a pledge outlining how they will look after their mental health over the coming year and share it with the rest of the school.

This #WorldMentalHealthDay we asked our staff and students what they can do to maintain or improve their own mental health and that of their friends and family, using @TimetoChange’s pledge boards. Here are some of their responses... pic.twitter.com/JItjlBEQWv
