Sophie Forbes-Laird (Year 9)
Last Friday, the Year 9 Textiles, Art and DT students were given the opportunity to visit the Victoria & Albert museum in London. Founded in 1852, it is also the world's largest museum of decorative arts and design.
As a student studying both Art and Textiles, and with a love for art galleries, I was very excited. Many of the girls loved the freedom, as we could walk around in groups, filling in sheets and taking notes.
The visit was really inspiring, I did lots of sketching, particularly of sculptures, and my friends and I took photos of various pieces. We were able to see the work of the designers we had been researching, which benefited all the students. Whether it was sketching in a corner or being inspired by a particular piece, the trip gave all the students greater knowledge on the fashion and art world, which they will take home and apply to their course.
